Musqle On Side Effects and Safety: Who Should Check First

Musqle On single pack of 60 capsules

Last updated: · By the Musqle On Capsule Guide editorial team

No supplement suits everybody. This page covers the general cautions that apply to the ingredients the seller lists, who should speak to a professional before taking Musqle On, and when to stop.

  • Ask a GP or pharmacist first if you take medication, have a medical condition, or are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Zinc 22 mg a day is close to the 25 mg upper level for supplements, so avoid doubling up
  • Not for under-18s, and not a substitute for medical advice about tiredness, mood or sexual difficulties

The safety summary

Most healthy adults tolerate the individual ingredients at these amounts, but the amounts of zinc and niacin are high enough that you should not add other products containing them. The plant extracts can interact with some medicines, and we cannot say how this particular combination behaves for you.

This is general information, not medical advice. If in doubt, ask a pharmacist, show them the label, and stop taking the product if you feel unwell.

Who should speak to a professional first

Ask a GP or pharmacist before you order if any of these apply to you:

  • You are under 18. The product is not intended for children or teenagers.
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • You take prescription or over-the-counter medicine, especially blood thinners, diabetes medicine, blood-pressure or heart medicine.
  • You have a medical condition, particularly heart, liver, kidney, prostate or hormone-related conditions, or you are being treated for one.
  • You are due surgery in the next few weeks.

If you are concerned about persistent tiredness, low mood or difficulty with sex, see a GP. These can have many causes, some of them treatable, and a supplement is not a way to find out what is going on.

Zinc and niacin amounts

Musqle On pack of 60 capsules

The seller lists 22 mg of zinc. UK and EU advisers treat about 25 mg a day from supplements as the upper level, and long-term intakes above that can interfere with how the body absorbs copper. If you already take a multivitamin or any other zinc product, check how much it contains before adding this one.

The seller lists 40 mg of niacin. In its nicotinic acid form, niacin can cause a harmless but noticeable flush, with warmth, redness and tingling of the face and neck. The seller does not state which form is used, so be ready for it, and speak to a pharmacist if you have liver disease, gout, stomach ulcers or take cholesterol medicine.

Stomach and digestion

L-carnitine and citrulline can cause nausea, cramps or loose stools in some people, particularly on an empty stomach or with too little water. The seller advises taking the capsules with two large glasses of water before a main meal. If the capsules upset you, stop and ask a pharmacist rather than adjusting the dose yourself.

The seller says the capsules can be opened and stirred into water. If you do this, follow the pack instructions, and note that this may change the taste and how quickly you take it.

Plant extracts and medicines

Pine bark and grape skin extracts, maca and saffron are all plant extracts. We are not aware of authorised health claims for them, and each comes with general cautions. Pine bark and grape skin extracts may affect blood clotting or blood sugar in some people, so they matter if you take blood thinners or diabetes medicine. Saffron is generally used in small food amounts, and the 10 mg here is small, but allergic reactions are possible in people sensitive to related plants.

If you are allergic to any ingredient, do not take the product. Because the seller's pages list different ingredients, compare the label on your pack with the table in our ingredients guide before the first dose.

When to stop and get advice

Stop taking Musqle On and seek medical advice if you have a rash, swelling, difficulty breathing, chest pain, a racing or irregular heartbeat, severe stomach pain, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or any symptom that worries you. In an emergency, call 999. You can also report a suspected problem with a food supplement to your local authority trading standards or the Food Standards Agency.

Keep the pack out of reach of children, store it as directed, and never exceed the stated dose. Go back to the main guide for the overview.

Frequently asked questions

Who should not take Musqle On?

Under-18s, anyone pregnant or breastfeeding, and anyone who takes medication or has a medical condition should ask a GP or pharmacist first.

What side effects can it cause?

Stomach upset is the most commonly reported problem with the amino acids listed, and niacin can cause skin flushing. Stop taking it and seek advice if you feel unwell.

Can I take it with other supplements?

Be careful with other zinc or niacin products and multivitamins, because the amounts add up. Ask a pharmacist.

Does it replace seeing a doctor?

No. If you are worried about persistent tiredness, low mood or sexual difficulties, see a GP rather than relying on a supplement.
